Essential Functions

Performs general highway maintenance and related activities as assigned, clearing brush, hauling materials, flagging traffic, roadway vegetation control, trash, and building and facilities maintenance repairs.
Operates equipment as required, including but not limited to, trucks, tractors, lawnmowers, and similar equipment of comparable size and complexity.
Operate various hand tools.
Ensures all activities are carried out in a safe manner; adheres to all County safety regulations; assists co-workers in the safe handling of equipment; ensures equipment is safely operated and driving laws are obeyed; ensures all regulations pertaining to the safe use of equipment are understood and followed.
Report all accidents to the appropriate authority. Follows all policies for reporting, investigating, and follow-up of equipment incidents, or personal injuries.
Cleans and maintains equipment and storage areas.
Report to Juneau or outlying shops as directed.
Other duties as assigned.

Physical and Work Environment

Ability to operate assigned machinery and equipment skillfully and safely in close proximity to vehicular traffic, grade and alignment stakes, slopes, trucks, other construction equipment, laborers, and utilities.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Reliable attendance
Ability and skill to drive and operate mobile equipment safely and properly.
Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment.
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling and reaching with hands and arms.
Frequently requires standing, speaking, or hearing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel and repetitive motions, and occasionally requires sitting.
Work has standard vision requirements.
Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
Work requires observing general surroundings and activities.
Work is frequently performed in a noisy environment, around mechanical equipment, and chemicals.
Work will include outdoors in seasonal weather extremes.
Skill in organizational and time management to prioritize duties to accomplish a high volume of work products while adapting to constant changes in priority.
Ability to safely perform flagging operations in accordance with industry requirements, training and certification will be provided.

Under the direction of the Shift Production Supervisor, as a Cheese Production Specialist team member, you’ll be responsible to providing bulk cheese to production lines and operating cheese cutting/shredding equipment.

How You Will Contribute to our Legacy of Excellence:

Perform manual lifting and carrying (approximately up to 40lbs) by opening, cleaning and placing cheese on production lines
Remove all packaging from cheese
Inspect bulk cheese for mold or contaminant, remove and clean accordingly
Lift and place cheese on conveyors (weight varies from 5 lbs. to 40 lbs. per lift)
Operate all automated and manual cutting systems
Operate all shredding equipment
Maintain record of bulk cheese usage utilizing RF inventory scanners
Perform other duties as assigned

What You Have to Offer:

No prior experience needed; on-the-job training is provided
Must be 18 years of age or older
You are able to frequently reach, grasp, and lift 40 lbs. and occasionally up to 60lbs
You are able to stand for long periods of time
You are committed to remaining safe in all aspects of the job

You are able to visually inspect product for food quality purposes
You are able to read and calculate using basic math

What You Do.

Read and understand production orders to verify information is correct.

Must be 18 years or older.
Willingness to complete forklift certification upon hire.
Ability to learn and carry out lock out tag out procedures as required.
Lifting 50 lbs.
Ability to perform data entry for inventory systems and labeling software.
