Summary: The primary purpose of the stuffing department is to take the bulk raw product and portion, form, encase it to conform with the various shapes and weights necessary for sale of the product. Carries out the responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. To facilitate the efficient operation of formulating sausage products through organization and intervention of formulation machines and line workers, and all aspects of Departmental functions, while maintaining Quality standards.

Responsibilities/Duties: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Minimum expectations include but are not limited to:

• Inspects raw material and stuffed product for obvious deficiencies prior to stuffing as well as after.
• Handles stuffed product immediately after it has been stuffed. This includes hanging of the following products: Snack Sticks, Chubs, Linked products, and Summer Sausage.
• Assists in loading the raw materials into a piece of equipment at a suitable rate for use at the stuffing process.
• Labels and wraps stuffed product prior to the smoking process.
• Cleans stuffing containers and machines.
• Take responsibility in your work area to produce a safe and quality food product. Report all food safety and quality related problems to your supervisor, manager, or to the QA department to initiate immediate action.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, Etc:

• Required education is a less than a high school diploma or GED; up to 1 month of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondences. Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one or in small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to read and write English. Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds. Ability to perform these operations using units of American currency and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet, humid, refrigerated, or freezer conditions consistent with working in a food processing facility. The noise level in the work environment is very loud. The employee is regularly exposed to extreme cold and vibration. Company provides: rubber gloves, metal gloves, cooler coats, sleeve protectors, aprons, bump cap, hair net, beard net, and ear plugs.

Starting Wage: $23.01
